During this tour we will see Cathedral and monastery of Alaverdi (XI c.), Gremi, Nekresi and have wine and gourmant tour at Kvareli wine Tunnel. (Winery Khareba)
Alaverdi is the highest achievement of Georgian architecture. At the same time this is a monumental building is striking with its simplicity. Nekresi Monastery is important because only here preserved IV century church in the whole of Georgia; Citadel Gremi (XVI c.); and a splendid church of Alaverdi (XI c.). The ruins of the city citadel Gremi (XVI c.). At one time Gremi was the capital of Kakheti kingdom. From former greatness today remained the citadel and the Cathedral of the Archangels with magnificent frescoes. Gremi proudly stands on a hill and it offers a beautiful view of the Alazani Valley. We finish the excursion in a wine cellar near Kvareli, the so-called Kvareli tunnel. It is carved into the rock tunnel in the length of more than 7 kilometers, which today is a wine cellar. Here we can taste different wines, make “churchkela”, make Kakhetian bread, Barbecue.
Around 7 pm we will return to Tbilisi.
