In Georgia, a project will be implemented to create a 40-kilometer pilgrimage trail along the road of St. Nino, the Enlightener of Georgia.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili.
According to him, religious tourism is a very popular destination and Christian pilgrims from all over the world will come to Georgia.
“We are working on a unique concept for the project, which involves the path of a pilgrim along the path of St. Nino to Bodbe,” Garibashvili said.
In Georgia, St. Nino is revered as an enlightener and heavenly patroness of Georgia.
According to legend, Nino was born into a noble family in Cappadocia. She went to Iveria (Kartli - the territory of modern Georgia), to the city of Mtskheta, where, according to her information, the Chiton of the Lord was located.
The feat of her life Saint Nino completed in the village of Bodbe (Kakheti, Eastern Georgia). As a tombstone on her grave in the Bodbe monastery complex stands the Cathedral of Saints George the Victorious and Nina - a three-aisled basilica of the 9th century.
In the gorge to the northeast of the monastery there is a source of St. Nino (“Ninos Tskaro”) with healing water. A bathhouse and a small church were built here in the name of her parents, Saints Zebulun and Susanna.
