Tbilisi became a member of the World Federation of Tourist Cities
22 October 2019

Tbilisi was admitted to the World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF). Mayor of Tbilisi Kakha Kaladze announced this today at a meeting of the city government. “I would like to share with you one more joyful and interesting innovation for the city.
Helsinki hosted a summit entitled "Smart tourism - the path of development and innovation of cities", at which Tbilisi was officially presented as a new member of the association, "Kaladze said. According to the mayor, membership in the organization will bring many benefits to Tbilisi: "active cooperation between member cities in the field of tourism, establishing new ties with various industry associations, thematic and business meetings, promoting tourism products and increasing awareness." “We have delicious cuisine, wine and, most importantly, we are hospitable people, and any tourist who comes here must return to Tbilisi with his friends and family.
That is why tourism needs a lot of support, ”added Kaladze, noting that it is necessary to do everything possible to acquaint the world with Georgia. WTCF was founded on September 15, 2012 in Beijing. It is the world's first international tourism organization focused not on countries, but on cities. Today the WTCF has six branches.
The organization consists of 145 cities and more than 70 institutional members - travel agencies, media, airports, airlines, hotel groups, cruise companies and financial firms.
“Improving city life through tourism” is the slogan and concept of the WTCF.
