12 September 2018

Georgia ranked fourth among the countries with the fastest growing tourist destinations. This was reported in the National Administration of Tourism of Georgia.

The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) published a 2017 tourism review. The report presents statistical data, research, trends and activities from different regions and countries of the world relating to the sphere of tourism.

According to the UNWTO report, the largest increase in tourists was recorded in Egypt (55%), Togo (46%), Vietnam (29%) and Georgia (27.9%). At the same time, Georgia in terms of growth of tourists was able to outrun such countries as France, Spain, Turkey and others.
According to UNWTO, last year the total number of international visits worldwide increased by 6.8% compared with the previous year.

“This is not the first time that Georgia occupies a leading position according to the report of the World Tourism Organization. As you know, in 2016, Georgia ranked first in Europe among countries that are rapidly developing in tourism. It should be noted that the success that our country has achieved in terms of growth in the number of tourists is not only important and impressive throughout Georgia, but also helped to take a leading position in the world in this direction, which is reflected in international reports, ”the head of the National Administration said Georgia Tourism Georgiy Chogovadze.

It should be noted that in August, about 1.3 (+ 9.8%) million international travelers crossed the border of Georgia.

The largest increase in the number of visits was recorded from Korea (+ 139%), China (+ 92%), Belarus (+ 44%), Kuwait (+ 44%) and Israel (+ 35%).
