The Guardian published a report on the trip to Tusheti
08 February 2018

The British edition of The Guardian published an article entitled "Georgian splendour: trekking in the Caucasus", which is devoted to a trip to the highland Tushetia.
The author of the article Ellis Carens visited Tushetia in August and told the readers that it's not easy to get to this beautiful region of Georgia because of the long mountain serpentines: it takes five hours to overcome the path from Telavi, which takes only 68 kilometers.
Because of the early onset of the winter season, the only road to Tushetia is closed from October to May, and most of the local population leaves their homes for the winter.

However, notes Kearns, visiting this region, bordering Chechnya and Dagestan, stands: "This is a mountain paradise, covered with pine trees, with deep gorges and mystical towers. During my short stay in Tusheti, time stopped, "writes the travel blogger.

She agrees with the statement that the money in Tushetia is losing its destination: there are practically no shops, hotels, taxi, no bars and asphalted roads in the region, only a few villages connected by mountain paths.

For three days the British tourist has visited a pine forest, in old villages, on steep slopes and flowering meadows.
Tushetia is a peaceful place, - notes the blogger. She says that in the house where they were offered to spend the night, the owners treated them with fresh bread, khinkali, cheese, homemade beer and herbal tea.

British tourists on horseback for four hours rose from Zemo Omalo to Lake Oreti, located at an altitude of three thousand meters from sea level.
