The Trinity Church in Gergeti was included in the list of the most beautiful temples in the world, compiled by the editors of the authoritative British edition The Telegraph.
In the rating, in which 24 churches are named, the Gergetsky temple occupies the sixth line.
"The Gergets church stands against the backdrop of green slopes and snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains, at the foot of Kazbek. Perhaps that's why it's so gorgeous. The church, dating from the 14th century, also has a bell tower, which is often used by travelers as a navigation point. To get here trekkers overcome a three-hour climb uphill, "- says the material of The Telegraph.
The Trinity Church in Gergeti (Gergetis Tsminda Sameba) is located at an altitude of 2,170 m at the foot of Kazbek along the Military Georgian road in the village of Gergeti on the right bank of the Chheri (tributary of the Terek), directly above the village of Stepantsminda. This shrine is the only cross-domed temple in the region of Heavy. Now the monastery can be reached only by a dirt road - on foot or by high traffic.
